Live workshop and demonstration of ancient and modern pottery techniques


At Tring History Museum see ceramicist Hannah Heys decorate her vases with the Sgraffito method. Then learn and wonder at tiles carved in the same way in the 13th century, which were found in and around Tring. Sessions at 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 3pm on 27 and 28 May.

See13th century tiles from the Victoria and Albert Museum London. This will be demonstrated by Hannah Heys. Hannah’s work combines contemporary design with detailed craftsmanship. She builds one-off ceramic vases, using delicate freehand Sgraffito to create intricate designs in bold and bright colours. Then in the Museum learn where they were found, how they were found and what they mean.

Any bus to centre of Tring is 200 metres from Museum. Tring Railway station is over a mile away and is well served by taxis.
Directions:
Take the Tring exit from A41, pass Tesco and at next roundabout take first exit towards centre. 200 yards turn right into public car park. Pay and walk down hill towards Brook Street and the Museum is on your right facing the Shell garage.
