Refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits) followed by a talk by Stephen Goss: When news broke that RMS Titanic had sunk with the loss of 1,500 lives there was shock across the world. The impact of the sinking (as well as the conspiracy theories that emerged) are discussed, and the clandestine Cold War reasons for the ship’s discovery revealed. Stephen adds stories of his family connections to Titanic and the Belfast shipyards to explore her history and why Titanic is still claiming lives. u3a Dacorum is an organisation for active people from all walks of life, no longer in full-time employment, meeting like-minded friends to expand knowledge, share interests, and acquire new skills. There’s no lower age limit. We have approximately 80 hobby/interest groups: from walking, book clubs, crafts, science, languages to online learning on Zoom and much more. New members always welcome.
