Duck Race Day at the Paper Mill

There’s nothing quite like Duck Day at the Paper Mill, Apsley Lock - a day when the whole community turns out for a good time and an even better cause. Our Annual Duck Day Race is back, and ducks are now on sale inside the pub for just £4 each (cash only). Get yours and you could be in with a chance to take home the winning prize as your duck races along the canal. The grand event kicks off with a flurry of family activities: enjoy our free balloon artist from midday to 2pm and free face painting from 11.30am to 2.30pm. Our BBQ will be sizzling from midday, and there’s a chance to try your hand at paper making before the main race. The fun continues with our traditional duck race, which sets off at 2.30pm - pick your duck, pick your spot on the bank, and prepare to cheer it to victory. There’s also a raffle running all afternoon, with the draw and race winners announced at 3.30pm, so there’s every chance of taking home a prize. This year, we’re delighted to be joined by Ebberns Bathroom Centre, who are teaming up with us to raise money and support the day. Top it all off with live music from Groove Generation, performing from 4pm to 6pm, making sure the celebrations carry on in true Paper Mill style. Every penny raised will go to St Francis Hospice, so by joining in you’ll be supporting a cause close to our hearts. Fancy a duck? Pop inside the pub to buy yours any time.
