The Christophers (15)
Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen) is an aging, reclusive 1960s art icon. His greedy, estranged children (James Corden, Jessica Gunning) hire Lori (Michaela Coel), an art forger and restorer, to pose as an assistant and complete Julian's highly valuable, unfinished canvases. The resulting film is a character-driven dark comedy exploring art, legacy, and human connection. The narrative revolves around the plot to secure a massive inheritance before Julian passes away. However, as Lori infiltrates his cloistered London home, a complicated dynamic develops between the master painter and the reluctant forger. As they clash and collaborate, the two uncover shared fears about their artistic legacies, the loss of creative passion, and the desire to be remembered. The film is celebrated for the crackling, symbiotic chemistry between McKellen and Coel, whose changing allegiances and true motives drive the story's tense yet humorous interactions.
